Mehmet Giray Sönmez

Mehmet Giray Sönmez received his medical degree from Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty in 2005. He was awarded his specialist certification of Urology from Ufuk University School of Medicine in 2011, after urology training, he worked as a urologist at Batman District State Hospital, Konya Training and Research Hospital, Ankara Etimesgut State Hospital, Medicalpark Ankara Hospital (2011-2015). Afterwards, he worked as an assistant professor at Department of Urology, Meram Medical Faculty, Necmettin Erbakan University (2015-2018). He still works at the same clinic with the title of associate professor since 2018. From 2017-2018 (three months), he worked on laparoscopy and robotic surgery training in the Bakirköy Training and Research Hospital. He served as a speaker, session chairman and committee member at various national and international symposiums. He is a member of Société Internationale d Urologie (SIU), European Association of Urology (EAU), World Endourology Society, The International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU), Turkish Association of Urology, Eurasian Uroncological Association, Turkish Endourology Society, Turkish Urological Surgery Association.
He has a Fellow of European Board of Urology (FEBU) certificate.
He is “Société Internationale d Urologie (SIU) Academy Education Council” member and “European Association of Urology (EAU)-EULIS collaborative research group” affiliate member. He is a former associate editor in The New Journal Of Urology , Endourology Bulletin, Turkish Journal of Urology, Selcuk Medicine Journal.

He is editor in chief in Mevlana Medical Sciences Journal.

He is the responsible faculty member of "NEU Faculty of Medicine Atasagun Student Society". He served as deputy director of KONÜDAM Experimental Medicine Application and Research Center and as a member of the animal experimentation ethics committee of Neü Faculty of Medicine.

He served as a researcher and executive in many national and international projects. To date, he has over a hundred published publications (73 web of science indexed, 73 Pubmed indexed manuscripts) and over ten book chapters. His publications have been cited many times and his H index value is currently 15.

The prime interests of Dr. Sonmez are minimally invasive management of urinary tract stone diseases, endourology, laparoscopy, uroncology, female urology , andrology and is currently working in the Urology Department of Necmettin Erbakan University, Meram Medical Faculty
